Havana Club is a brand of rum that was founded in 1934 by the Arechabala family in Havana, Cuba. The rum quickly gained popularity in Cuba and became known for its smooth taste and high quality. In 1959, following the Cuban Revolution, the Cuban government nationalized the Havana Club brand and took control of the distillery, forcing the Arechabala family into exile.

In 1993, the Cuban government entered into a joint venture with Pernod Ricard, a French multinational beverage company, to produce and distribute Havana Club rum internationally.

Today, Havana Club is sold in over 120 countries around the world, and has become one of the most popular rum brands globally. The rum is still produced in Cuba, using locally sourced molasses and water from the nearby Sierra Maestra mountains.
